Previous ELECOM Conferences
The 2020 3rd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical, Electronic and Communications Engineering (ELECOM) is a continuation of the very successful ELECOM 2018 and ELECOM 2016 conferences. In line with the main objectives of ELECOM 2016 and ELECOM 2018, ELECOM 2020 brings together industry professionals, academics, and individuals from government agencies and other institutions to exchange information and ideas on electrical, electronic, communications engineering and computing. The conference features a comprehensive technical program offering numerous technical sessions with papers showcasing the latest technologies, applications and services. ELECOM 2020 is being organised by the University of Mauritius, a leading tertiary education institution. The event received positive responses from a multitude of stakeholders including public and private sectors, local and international universities and research institutions. Forty-one papers were accepted following a rigorous blind review process and all papers were screened using Turnitin. There are two keynote addresses by the following experts - Professor Nikola Djuric from the University of Novi Sad with a keynote speech on Service-based Electromagnetic Field Monitoring Using Wireless Sensor Network and Professor Keshav Dahal, who is the leader of the Artificial Intelligence, Visual Communication and Networks (AVCN) Research Centre at the University of the West of Scotland, UK. His speech is on Scheduling in Power Systems for the Effective Operation of Smart Cities. Furthermore, our Chief Guest, Mr. Neecharl Ramprosand’s speech, Chair of the IEEE Mauritius Section, is on IEEE and its activities in Mauritius. This Proceedings contains a selection of revised papers presented at ELECOM 2020 within the three main conference themes, which are Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Communications Engineering and Computing & IT. This Proceedings covers various aspects of advanced electrical and communications engineering and computing. The conference chairs wish to acknowledge the University of Mauritius for successfully organising the conference and the IEEE Mauritius Section for being the Technical co-sponsor of the conference.

The International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering (ELECOM) was organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Mauritius. This is the premier event that brings together industry professionals, academics, and individuals from government agencies and other institutions to exchange information and ideas on electrical, electronic, communication engineering and computing. The conference featured a comprehensive technical program offering numerous technical sessions with papers showcasing the latest technologies, applications and services.
The second edition of this conference was held at Maritim Crystals Beach Hotel, Belle Mare, in Mauritius, on 28-30 November 2018. The Republic of Mauritius is a tropical island located about 1200 miles off the south eastern coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. It is surrounded by a beautiful stretch of 93 miles of white sandy beaches. Mauritius has a rich multi-cultural diversity and is the home of two UNESCO world heritage sites.
The conference also hosted a workshop on "Fascination with Systems Engineering” whose purpose was to raise awareness around the application of systems engineering in multiple industries. It was cross cutting and had several interfaces with traditional electrical, electronic and communications engineering and many of the topics covered by the ELECOM 2018 conference page. Participants of this workshop from both academia and industry benefited from the wide experience of the presenters and the real-life applications in major industries.
